Braveheart Christian Academy

Overview

Located in Arlington, TX, Braveheart Christian Academy (BCA) is a thoughtful microschool committed to transforming the educational experience for students from Pre-K to 8th grade. BCA believes that every child is unique and deserves a personalized approach to learning, one that meets them where they are and helps them thrive both academically and spiritually.

BCA is committed to Individualized Mastery Based Learning. Many students arrive at BCA having fallen one or two grade levels behind their peers. Teachers and staff address this challenge head-on by tailoring education to fit each student’s needs and learning style. Students are not socially promoted to the next grade level. Instead, students must master the curriculum to move ahead. Through individualized academics and an unwavering focus on character, morality and faith, 90% of BCA students bridge their learning gaps within their first year. This holistic model not only helps students excel academically, but also cultivates a sense of belonging and self-worth.

What sets Braveheart apart is its nurturing environment, where children love coming to school and feel truly valued. Parents trust BCA to reinforce the values taught at home, creating an honorable character partnership between families, educators and students. BCA’s commitment to regular parent-teacher meetings, occurring four times annually, ensures a strong sense of involvement and a deeper connection between home and school life.

Braveheart equips students with the tools and support they need to succeed. Whether helping a musically inclined learner improve their reading through rhythm and tapping, or fostering a lifelong love of learning, Braveheart Christian Academy is dedicated to helping every child realize their potential.

  • 90% of students close learning gaps within their first year
  • 60% of students excel a grade level ahead in math; 40% in language arts.
  • Parent-teacher conferences held 4x a year ensure strong collaboration.
  • Monthly servant leadership activities instill the value of giving back.
  • Chapel and Bible-based lessons foster faith and strong moral character.

“What makes Braveheart different is that we bring education to the students’ level. Instead of placing them in a box, we ask, ‘Where are you really strong, and where do you need assistance?’ We define success as not just academic data, though that’s super important, but also asking, ‘Do you actually like being here?’ When students say they feel valued, cared for, and like they belong, that’s an automatic check for us.”

Chrystal Bernard, Head of School

“I’m very involved in my daughters’ education, and I’m proud of that. It’s important they see me care about the value of their learning and they know school isn’t just a place they’re dropped off, it’s a foundation for making a difference. Prior to BCA, the environment for Sapira wasn’t working but after finding BCA, her love for learning and reading increased, and that’s exactly what I hoped for. BCA’s motto is to lead with love. It’s like a family, their second home. Everyone knows everyone, and they trust their teachers and faculty here. That trust is the foundation for everything else.”

PaChristia Askew, Braveheart Parent

“I love that I get to learn, play, and meet new friends at Braveheart.”
